Fayetteville Wins Highest Honor in Public Relations Awards

The City of Fayetteville received top honors at the North Carolina Chapter’s National Public Relations Association Annual Inspire Awards.

The city won a silver award in the events and ceremonies category for the 2021 Veterans Day virtual program, the city said in a release. The city also received an honorable mention in the Can Do City of Carolina Rebrand Reputation/Brand Management category, the release said.

The awards ceremony was held on August 18th at the Raleigh City Club.

According to the press release, this was the first PRSA award the city won for the work of its marketing and communications team.

Deadline for nominations for ‘Local Hero’ awards nears

The deadline to nominate someone for the Greater Fayetteville Chamber’s “Local Hero” award is approaching. The award will be presented later this year as part of the Public Safety & Valor Awards. The deadline for submission of nominations is September 5th.

This is the fifth time the Chamber of Commerce has presented its Public Safety & Valor Awards, which honor public safety personnel in three categories, including police, fire and emergency medical technicians. they are:

  • Valor Award: The highest award for bravery and heroism. Awarded to public safety officials who intentionally endanger death or extremely serious bodily harm in the performance of an official act.
  • Life Saving Award: It is awarded in recognition of official actions taken in situations where an individual’s life is in medical or physical danger.
  • Achievement Award: this recognizes Outstanding public safety performance demonstrating initiative, ingenuity, and/or diligence in the performance of his/her duties.

The “Local Hero” award is new this year and is based on public nominations. The deadline for submission of nominations is September 5th. A selection committee will review the nominations and select one of his to award at the event.

This year’s event is scheduled for October 18 from 7:30-9:30 am at Manna Church’s Clifdale Campus.

Cape Fear Valley’s Langston Wins Health Community Award

Bryan Langston, Corporate Director of Patient Logistics – Critical Care Transportation at Cape Fear Valley Health, recently received the 2022 Healthy Communities Award.

He was one of 11 people honored to work with the statewide patient movement coordination team during the COVID-19 surge, the hospital said in a release.

“It was an honor to represent Cape Fear Valley’s commitment to our community and state,” Langston said in a release. “We are honored to be recognized by the North Carolina Health Care Association for our efforts.
