Cornell University’s Samuel Curtis Johnson School of Management is renowned for its full-time MBA program. Since its inception in 1946, the degree has launched graduates into careers in some of the world’s largest companies.

Graduated in 1989
Mark graduated in 1989 with an MBA from Wayne State University in Detroit after receiving a bachelor’s degree. In 2003 he joined a Fortune 50 medical benefits company and in 2010 he became CEO.
After Aetna was sold to CVS, Mark moved into financial management and became co-CEO of Bridgewater Associates, one of the world’s largest hedge funds. He also serves on Verizon’s board of directors.
2. David Duffield

Class of 1964
Previous David earned an MBA from Cornell University in 1964 and a BS in Software Engineering. He became an entrepreneur and after turning 40, he founded his two software companies, PeopleSoft and Workday.
PeopleSoft has become the second largest application software company, and SaaS company Workday is now worth $9.5 billion.

CEO AT&T Business
graduated in 1990
In addition to her MBA, Anne Chow also holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University. When she became CEO of AT&T Business in 2019, she became the first woman to hold the position, and she became the first woman of color in AT&T’s history.
Ann is the co-author of a best-selling book on unconscious bias in business and serves on the boards of companies such as the Girl Scouts of America and the Asian American Justice Center.
4. Randy Papadellis
Former President and CEO of Ocean Spray
Graduated in 1981
After earning an MBA from Cornell University, Randy has a 35-year career in the food and beverage industry. He majored in Marketing in his MBA and after graduation he held roles in global brands such as Lays, Schweppes and Welch’s.
He was appointed President and CEO of Ocean Spray Cranberries in 2002, a position he held for 16 years.
5. Herbert Fisk Johnson
Chairman and CEO of SC Johnson & Son, Inc.
Graduated in 1984
Herbert received all undergraduate and graduate degrees from Cornell University, including an MS and Ph.D. in Applied Physics. Three years after graduating with an MBA, Herbert joined his family’s company, his SC Johnson (Cornell University Business, after which his College of Business is named).
In addition to serving in senior management positions at SC Johnson domestically and internationally, Herbert is known for his philanthropy and activism, including raising awareness of ocean plastic pollution.
6. Dan Hesse

Former CEO of Sprint Nextel
Graduated in 1977
Dan graduated in 1975 with a BA in Government and International Studies and soon after moved to Ithaca to complete his MBA. He started his career as an intern at his AT&T and later became CEO of the Netherlands-based company’s international division.
In 2007, Dan was appointed CEO of Sprint Corporation, one of the largest mobile network operators in the United States. During a time of customer dissatisfaction, Dan focused on improving customer service, building partnerships with technology companies such as Apple, and launching retail stores.
7. Angela Mwanza

Managing Director, UBS Private Wealth Management

After graduating from the University of Konstanz, Germany, Angela moved to the United States and completed her MBA from Cornell University. Early in her career in the financial industry, she worked as an associate at JP Morgan and vice president at Bank of America.
Since 2008, she has been Managing Director of the Private Wealth Management Division of UBS, a global financial services company. Angela was also a founding member of the United Nations Foundation Global Entrepreneurship Council.
8. Jim Bridenstine

graduated in 2009
Prior to joining Cornell, Jim served in the United States Navy. However, at the end of his active career, he took a role at his Wyle Laboratories, a defense consulting firm. He became Executive Director of the Tulsa Air and Space Museum in 2008 and soon earned his MBA.
After three years in the House, Jim was elected NASA’s 13th administrator by President Donald Trump.
9. Brett Keller
CEO of Priceline
Graduated in 1997
After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Japanese and a minor in business, Brett moved to Japan to work in marketing for Seiko Instruments. Two years later he returned to the United States and completed his MBA at Cornell University.
After graduating, he worked for 23 years as Marketing Director for Priceline, an online travel agency. In addition to becoming Chief Marketing Officer, Brett also held the role of Chief Operating Officer before becoming Chief Executive Officer in 2016.
10. Amane Nakashima
Chairman of Kewpie Corporation and President of Nakashimoto Co., Ltd.

After graduating from Waseda University in Tokyo with a bachelor’s degree in economics, Amane went to the United States to pursue an MBA. Since his 1993, he has been president of Nakashimoto Co., Ltd., a food distribution company based in Japan, and is one of Paris’ most famous wine producers.
