The NFL is littered with important contributors who have been cut, waived, or released by another club.

Raheem Mostert was undrafted in 2015 and returned as a feature to the San Francisco 49ers after being cut by six different teams. Isaiah McKenzie was waived by the Broncos midway through the 2018 season. He will enter his 2022 season as Buffalo’s starting slot as his receiver.

Teams should reduce their roster size to 53 players by 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday. I’m tracking released players worth adding by another club. These 53-man rosters are yet to be finalized.

Security with Tartt’s level of experience and productivity is not readily available every August. He has appeared in 80 regular season games for the 49ers since his 2015 with 18 passes for his breakup and he averaged 56 tackles per season, earning him four picks.

Locked-up safety that hits hard in the middle of the field and at the line of scrimmage is trending in the NFL these days. He made five tackles and sacks in Super Bowl LIV, and at just 30 years old, Tart should have many suitors on the open market. He’s a veteran and he has over four years of experience in the NFL, so he’s not eligible for waivers and could be signed with another team soon.

Newsome was my #TrustTheTape prospect for the 2021 class. He tested horribly. On the North Carolina field, Newsom was electric. Newsom produced all four seasons with the Tar Heels, and in 2019, he recorded over 1,000 yards with 10 touchdowns as a junior.

He was a member of this article last year when the Bears released him ahead of 53-man cuts. He signed with the Chicago practice team and caught two passes for 23 yards in several spot appearances in the second half of the season. Now, his 2019 season in his ACC has barely made sense, and his poor combine is athletic enough for Newsom to consistently win his NFL slot as his wideout. It seems like a strong indicator of incompetence. After a strong minicamp and flush in training camp, Newsome had only 27 yards in the preseason with just 2 yards. He’s worth registering as a gadget-type slot receiver below.

Looking at the 2021 punter stats (net punt average), we can see that Martin is near the top. His 42.8 average was his third best in football, and his 28 of 20 punts were his fifth most in the NFL. Consistency from year to year is essential for the punters, and in each of the last three seasons Martin has finished 12th or better on net average. Martin should be a top priority for clubs looking to improve the status of their punters.
