The disrespect for the Notre Dame football program is all around us and will not stop until the Irish program does something about it. Not because Notre Dame is elitist, or for any other reason. These may be the reasons I don’t like Notre Dame, but the disdain came from the same place that respect for other programs exists.
it earned.
Notre Dame Cathedral, whose program Brian Kelly, Charlie Weiss, Willingham, Thailand When Bob Davey The ones created rarely, if ever, appear in these types of Big Moment games. The last time Kerry took his team on the road to face off against Big Ten opponents, they were destroyed by a score of 45-14.
We all remember the 2017 Miami debacle, the ACC title match against Clemson, Kerry’s two College Football Playoff appearances, and the BCS title matchup. In these matches, against all the top 10 ranked teams at the time, Ireland lost by an average of 35.6 to 9.8.
That’s why Notre Dame is a 17.5 point underdog to Ohio.
that is Marcus Freeman Hired to fix. The Irish head coach in his first year is tasked with transforming a program mastered in the art of beating inferior opponents into one that can go toe-to-toe….and….the country’s best team.
as a great man Lou Holtz Once you say it, you get respect. This is especially true for Notre Dame. Some may hate Notre Dame a little more than other programs, but Holtz’s team did something about it. I didn’t. Why? Not only did they punch you in the mouth (usually it was figurative), they also punched you on the field and punched you on the scoreboard.
From 1988 to 1993 Holz and Notre Dame won 24-8-1 against top 25 ranked opponents. This included a ridiculous 14-5-1 mark for him against top 10 ranked opponents. Notre Dame has 14 wins for him against opponents who finished in the top ten. Kelly won only three times in his 12 seasons.
In its 11th season at Notre Dame, Holtz’s team won 21 matches against teams ranked in the top 10 at the time the matches were played. In his 12 seasons at Notre Dame, it was his only four times that the Kerry-led team won those games, and his two of the top 10 teams they beat finished the season outside the rankings. Done (Michigan State University 2012, Stanford University 2018).
Together, Davey and Willingham have won as many games in eight combined seasons, top 10 teams at the time the games were played, as Kerry has won in 12 years.
That is why contempt exists. it earned. It’s been acquired over Notre Dame’s decades and seemed largely uncompetitive in those big games.
If Notre Dame wants respect, it must earn it. We’ll get that chance again on Saturday night when the team travels to No. 2 Ohio State. The Irishman will get another crack when his No. 4 Clemson comes into town on November 5th. If USC is as good as the media thinks, the Irish will get another shot at the top team ending later in the season. November.

There is an opportunity for Freeman to change the direction of the program and restore Notre Dame to its former glory. No high-ranking recruiting classes or fiery speeches. It comes from what happens on the scoreboard.
Freeman arrived with that purpose in mind. He hired the coach with that purpose in mind. Preparations for this season have been made with that objective in mind.Notre Dame team under Freeman, now offensive coordinator Tommy Reesedefense coordinator Al Golden The rest of Ireland’s coaches and players not only get the chance to silence the skeptics, but seize the opportunity and be the team to announce to the world of college football that this is, in fact, your grandfather’s Notre. I get… no good.
