This week, Fitbit announced the latest additions to its fitness-focused smartwatch lineup with the Fitbit Versa 4 and Fitbit Sense 2. The Apple Watch and Galaxy Watch have surpassed the once-dominant players in the wearables market and arguably offer more smartwatch features, but they have one key advantage. Fitbit remains the best smartwatch for health and fitness tracking.
If you’ve researched one of these watches, you might already know the answer. It’s simply battery life. According to Fitbit, the Versa 4 and Sense 2 both offer more than his six-day battery life. fitbit sense Hitting that mark, I’ll happily give them the benefit of the doubt.
Feeling a little depressed?
Aside from the annoyance of having to charge something every day, after all, we already do it with our phones, and we should consider Versa 4 and Sense 2 over Apple Watch and Galaxy Watch. Why is there? All of these companies stress that health and fitness tracking is the primary purpose of their respective smartwatches, and that the watch needs to stay on your wrist to perform its function. Forgetting to charge your Apple Watch or Galaxy Watch, or forgetting to bring your charger on vacation for the weekend, you’ll be left with a dead Apple Watch or Galaxy Watch on your wrist all day and weekend. There is no doubt that it is likely to be , or night.
Aside from how silly it is to lift your wrist to check the time or see if you’ve missed a notification, seeing only your reflection staring at you on a blank display Whether it’s step count or sleep tracking, there’s data missing. However, if you’re serious about tracking your health and fitness, there’s some truth to that: Guessing how many calories you’ll burn in a day or for a particular activity isn’t all that accurate. Nor can you guess how you slept. One day goes by and you’re either Daredevil or you’re lying.
The last one is especially notable. Apple loves to talk about heart rate monitors and the ability to detect instances of abnormally high or low heart rates, or the recent addition of atrial fibrillation (A-fib) detection via EKG. Again, the Versa 4 covers all of this same area with the added benefit of being able to monitor for signs of A-fib while you sleep. and the Versa 4 is better suited for the task.
Both Apple and Samsung are eyeing the same solutions for extending smartwatch battery life. Battery saver mode basically shuts everything down and keeps the watch running for timing and step tracking, but at that point you gave up. All the supposed advantages of these wearables over Fitbit.
Smarter than your average fitness tracker
So what’s the other side of the coin? What are you giving up for using a Fitbit Versa 4 or Sense 2 over an Apple Watch or Galaxy Watch? Not as much as you might think.
The latest update to the company’s Google-owned smartwatch supports Google Maps for directions and Google Wallet for easy touchless payments. Fitbit also has a mic and speaker so you can make calls over Bluetooth and use voice assistants like Google Assistant and Alexa. Notifications are solid too, and you can even send messages, but it’s far more limited than what the Apple Watch can do, especially for iOS users.
Those who love the Apple Watch’s photo apps and home automation features will be disappointed with the Versa 4, but for most users looking for health and fitness tracking with a little notification triage, the Fitbit watch is clever enough.

Outlook
with apple watch series 8 Almost here, I can’t wait to fully test the latest version of Fitbit against what Apple has to announce.Inside me Compare Apple Watch 7 and Fitbit Sense In last year’s showdown, Apple’s victory was largely influenced by the design, which was attributed to the capacitive buttons on the side of the Sense not responding at times. It looks like Fitbit has learned its lesson and the real button is back.
There are many rumored changes to the Apple Watch, but battery life isn’t the best I’ve seen. Some have suggested a rugged Series 8 Pro is coming, but it could benefit from a larger battery and chassis for better battery life. 2. The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro has a battery life of 2-3 days, while the Galaxy Watch 5 has just over a day.
This isn’t to convince you that the Apple Watch and Galaxy Watch aren’t great smartwatches, but if you’re buying a smartwatch primarily for health and fitness, do you need to charge it only once? It’s worth considering if you have a week, you’re more likely to use it for sure. The best diets are the ones you can stick to, and the best health and fitness trackers are the ones that keep your wrist charged.
