This afternoon, Nintendo of America Tweet Learn about the latest in-game perks from Nintendo Switch Sports. The tweet has garnered just over 700 likes at the time of this writing.A few hours ago, Nintendo of America announced Tweet About hidden legend difficulty in Nintendo Switch Sports. The tweet has garnered over 17,000 likes as of this writing. Same game, completely different story.

Why did I get two completely different reactions to two posts about the same game? Simple. One was a regular scheduled promotional tweet and the other featured the return of Matt, one of his most feared figures in Nintendo history.

Matt is the Mii computer opponent on the right side of the image above. He is a secret legendary opponent that you can face in Nintendo Switch Sports’ swordplay game by entering certain button combinations on the difficulty selection screen. If he looks familiar to you, it’s probably because you remember having a hard time beating him in the early days of the Wii.

Matt’s legend dates back to Wii Sports, the Wii launch title that graced our living rooms in November 2006. It was here that Miis made his big debut, and Matt also appeared with him. Matt is known as his boxing champion on Wii Sports. He is the last fighter you will face in boxing and is wearing his Silver Boxing Gloves which you can receive after defeating him.

Matt returns to the 2010s Wii Sports Resort, this time as a Swordplay champion. He is the final boss in Swordplay Showdown and is fairly difficult to defeat.

Matt may have flown under the radar during the peak of Wii Sports’ popularity, but years later, many gamers on the Internet began making jokes that greatly exaggerated Matt’s skill level. , he’s tough to beat at boxing and swordplay, but he’s not the kind of god the internet would have you believe he is.

According to knowyourmeme, the original meme that started the modern love for Matt is an image posted on Reddit that reads, “Fifteen Characters Who Can Defeat Thanos (even the Infinity Gauntlet) in Seconds.” The image below is a photo of Matt from Wii Sports with the caption “The pro we need”.

This sparked a new trend of joking about Matt’s raw strength, including memes referencing Star Wars/The Last Jedi, Scooby-Doo’s Shaggy, and more.

That leads us to Nintendo Switch Sports, the 2022 follow-up to the Wii Sports series. Switch Sports has pushed his Miis out of the spotlight and replaced it with a new type of avatar. His NPCs in Mii made very few appearances, but players could still play as his Mii, leaving hope that Matt would eventually make an appearance. While fans waited, many designed their own. Own A Mii who looks like Matt playing as a legendary character online.

Fast forward to late July when Nintendo updated Nintendo Switch Sports and added the new Legends mode we talked about above. We can’t be more excited. Check out some of the best social media reactions below, including people who decided to buy the game for Matt, players who were destroyed by Matt, and more.

If you’re up for the challenge, you can go head-to-head with Matt on Switch Sports now. Just be prepared to lose.
