Set to return to the MCG since the 2019 decider between Richmond and the Giants, the football home expects more than 100,000 supporters on Sept. 24.

Over the past two seasons, various states have played Grand Finals due to COVID-19.

What is entertainment at the AFL Grand Final?

Headlined by international sensation Robbie Williams, the entertainment for the AFL Grand Final will feature all Australian acts and the league is excited about the potential for all home ground performances.

To boost the spectacle, five acts will join Williams for pre-match and halftime performances.

From the Mike Brady icon “Up There Cazaly” Audiences are looking for some real fun on the last Saturday in September as ARIA award-winning artist Katie Noonan sings the national anthem.

Joining Brady and Noonan is G Flip (aka Georgia Flipo), while Goanna and The Temper Trap band round out the performers.

What if the AFL Grand Final ends in a draw?

If both teams have the same score at the end of the 4th quarter, the goal umpire will confer to ensure that both scores are the same.

If a draw result is confirmed, both teams will have a 6-minute break before two 3-minute halves.

Teams change ends at the end of the first three-minute half, but there is no break and play resumes as soon as the players are set.

If the scores are still tied at the end of the two 3-minute halves, the process of playing two more 3-minute halves is repeated until a winner is found.

Both sides will be given an additional 10 substitutions during extra time. This does not include his one medical substitution for the match.

After a draw between Collingwood and St Kilda in 2010, the rules were changed requiring both clubs to return the following Saturday to play the entire match.

What is the Norm Smith Medal?

The Norm Smith Medal is an award given to the player judged to be the best in the AFL Grand Final.

Voted by a panel of independent football experts, the medal was introduced in 1979 to honor former Melbourne icon Norm Smith.

Smith played 227 games (210 Melbourne, 17 Fitzroy) and coached a total of 452 games (310 Melbourne, 87 South Melbourne, 55 Fitzroy).

During his time with the Demons, Smith coached the club to six premierships between 1955 and 1964.

Smith was named coach of the AFL Team of the Century and was promoted to Legend status in 2007. AFL.com.au.

Norm Smith Medal Vote

Voting for this prestigious award is typically made up of five football experts (former players, media personalities and journalists) who will be rated 3-2-1 on who is the best.

If one of the five is considered the designated panel chair and after two countbacks and there is a tie, that person will determine the winner.
