ASU Undergraduate Business Program Ranked 23rd in Latest US News & World Report Rankings

Increased capacity and expansion of programs leading to strong academic-practice partnerships are among the factors that helped Arizona State University’s Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation to rank 29th in the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges for Undergraduates Rankings. In 2021, the university welcomed its largest BSN graduation class to date, with 794 students earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing between pre-licensure and post-licensure nursing programs.

Most recently, Edson College again began offering the BSN program at its West campus. In 2021, the university will launch its first program at ASU Lake Havasu, aimed at helping address the nurse shortage in rural areas. The first Havasu cohort graduated this summer.

In addition to exploring opportunities to grow nursing programs, university leaders have embarked on new approaches to clinical experience that are more important than ever for nursing majors. With the introduction of the “team model,” students now spend most of their time in the same clinic.

In explaining the benefits of the team model, Salina Bednarek, Senior Director of the Prelicensure Nursing Program and Clinical Assistant Professor at Edson College, calls it a win-win.

The university has successfully partnered with medical institutions to meet workforce needs with a cohort model mirrored in the team model. Ultimately, the team model aims to create a stronger workforce pipeline and reduce the time it takes new nurses to transition from student to newly graduated registered nurse on their first job. So far, academic practice partners such as Dignity Health and Banner have adopted innovative approaches and are seeing the benefits up close.
