Wellsboro, Pennsylvania — Like most writers, Kevin Coolidge sometimes experiences writer’s block. After his three-year hiatus since 2019, Coolidge recently got the inspiration he needed to complete his tenth book, Totally Ninja Raccoons.

Full Ninja Raccoon Discovers Lost World Coolidge revealed this week that it will be released at the end of September. In this book, the infamous Catboard steals Uncle’s art journal and tricks the Totally Ninja Raccoons into invading his Coudersport Ice Mine.

Can Ninja Raccoon save Uncle Art? Will they discover the lost world? Will they be able to get General Tso’s chicken!?

“This book is special in many ways,” said Coolidge. “My goal with this series is to make reading fun like Mackay Campbell of Williamsport, the book-phobic 7-10-year-old. I had to have fun writing these books, meeting 10-year-old McKay to see how much he loved the raccoon book and how much the book helped him. It was then that I finally got the urge to finish this book.”

Coolidge, owner of From My Shelf Books & Gifts at 7 East Avenue in Wellsboro, said he and his grandmother stopped by his booth during the Laurel Festival on June 17 this year. I met McKay on occasion.

She wanted to buy two Ninja Raccoon books for her grandson. McKay and Coolidge began talking about raccoons and monsters in his books and soon became friends. I came home. After reading the first one, McKay said on his June 24th he emailed Kevin and told him.

“McKay’s email helped me overcome my writer’s block,” says Coolidge. “I finished an important first draft Full Ninja Raccoon Discovers Lost World Afternoon on Monday, July 4th. “

Coolidge knew how long it would take to prepare the first draft for publication, add illustrations, and publish the book.

In addition to drawing inspiration from McKay, the book is also dedicated to the father of the recently deceased illustrator Chris Jones.

“Yes, Totally Ninja Raccoons is for kids, but the series has adult fans,” said Coolidge. “My illustrator father was one of those fans and was always looking forward to the next Totally Ninja Raccoon adventure.”

A signed, personalized copy of “Totally Ninja Raccoons Discover the Lost World” can be ordered now prior to publication by calling the bookstore at (570) 724-5793. Copies can also be reserved directly at the store.
