Selections by FOX Sports NFL Analyst Jeff Schwartz:

The Lions are the favorites for the first time since 2020 as they host the Commanders in Week 2. Detroit quickly became one of my favorite teams. they fight to the end. He lost 31-14 to the Eagles early in the third quarter last Sunday, and the Lions looked unable to cover his 4-point spread. But alas! They fought to the end, losing 38-35 and covering the spread.

Meanwhile, the Commanders covered the Jaguars in Week 1. Carson Wentz was his usual self. He made some big throws with terrible interceptions interspersed in his plays.

Given Carson Wentz’s unpredictable nature and the fact that the Lions always seem to come back into the game to cover, I don’t think the 1.5 point spread is favorable either way. However, this game has its favorite bets.

It’s the decline of Lions quarterback Jared Goff.

The Lions will do everything possible to avoid Jared Goff being on the offense. Even in a game trailing 17 points, the Lions only had 37 pass attempts and he had 28 rush attempts. Jared Goff came back throwing for 215 yards on the scramble. It’s not impressive. They desperately want to control the line of scrimmage and avoid Goff taking center stage. So getting Jared Goff to pass his yards or less is always a good bet.

That’s what I do here. Below is Jared Goff.
