ALLEGAN — Downtown Allegan will soon be home to a new joint venture that brings ice cream, arcade games, and hopefully liquor into a single fun spot.
Owned by Matt Adams, the Regent Arcade Showroom at 128 Locust St. will officially partner with Scoopt, an ice cream shop at 155 Riverfront Plaza, in 2023.

“Small Town Amusement started in 2018 when we first worked with the city on the development of Regent Arcade,” says Adams. “Post-Corona, we took over the operation of the arcade, relocated it to its current location, and rebranded it as Regent He Arcade His Showroom.
“In 2021, Small Town Amusements intended to purchase Scoupt on the downtown riverfront and consolidate both businesses at that location. came up with this new partnership of
The Regent Arcade launched in 2019 at the historic city-owned Regent Theater. We approached Adams about opening an arcade in the building’s old changing rooms. For a while, the city reshuffled its staff from theaters to arcades and operated small concessions.
But when the pandemic hit, arcades and theaters were closed. By the time business began to reopen, the city could not afford to staff the arcade. Adams and his partners took over his business until the city decided it wanted to rent the space to someone else.
Adams walks into Locust Street, a retail space three times its size. The storefront was designed for retail, so he started selling bar stools, mini-fridges, and equipment, in addition to hosting his pinball tournaments and letting customers play.

Now, these opportunities are moving with the business to 118 Brady Street (formerly the Iron Bridge Sports Bar). There, new ventures feature combinations of food, drink, ice cream, and pinball.
“We’re still in the early stages of planning,” Adams said. “But Regent He is exactly what we were trying to do in terms of consolidating Arcade and Scoop. ONE Enterprises continues to make other investments in his Allegan and we are partnering with them. I have.”
The entertainment center does more than serve ice cream.
“We want to have a liquor license and a full bar that allows us to get creative with our ice creams and slushies. We are also developing a new name for our business.”

So far, the feedback since announcing the partnership has been positive.
“We continue to focus on fun and are excited to bring these two things together,” said Adams. “Everyone loves ice cream, and the resurgence of pinball and his interest in arcades allows him to fit it all in one space. I think it will be a very unique place.”
