1) Community Advocates Urge Austin Energy to Reconsider Proposal for Rate Increases. Back in April, Austin Energy announced it needed to cover a widening gap between its revenue and service delivery costs. KXAN reports that the company has proposed restructuring its base tariff. This will raise your customer’s fixed monthly fee from $10 to $25 before you turn on the light.

3) More than 200 paddleboarders tackle the 21-mile course off Lake Austin today. TYLER’S Dam That Cancer, a fundraising event for free mental health therapy for cancer-stricken Central Texas residents, saw over 200 paddleboarders head to Lake Austin for the 10 hour ride from Mansfield Dam to Tom, Tackle the 21-mile trek. mirror dam.

4) The Austin Fire Department honored 9/11 first responders with its 22nd Annual Stair Climb. Austin firefighters gathered at the Pleasant Valley Drill Tower Sunday morning for the 22nd Annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. Firefighters climbed up and down the tower several times before reaching the heights of the World Trade Center, CBS reported.
Each year, the climb is held in complete silence to honor the firefighters who risked and ultimately lost their lives on 9/11. CBS Austin has more on the event.
